Torrington Swager & Vaill is the only forming machinery specialist offering all the most efficient technologies to form tube, bar and wire.

After having invented the swaging process, developed the vaill-in-line process, once more, we pushed the limits of accuracy and precision in forming methods with our latest application, the push-pull process.

This unique combination of knowledge allows us to always choose the most up-to-date technical solution for our customer needs.

The most spectacular advantages of these processes over other production means are:

SAVES TIME
The process is faster than machining, repetitive and easy to set up.
    INCREASES STRENGTH
Because the process alters the gain structure, the tensile strength, as well as the surface hardness.
SAVES MATERIAL
The entire raw material is converted into finished product without chips.
UNIFORM ACCURACY
Consistent feeding and proper tooling result in tolerance of well within .001" and CPK of 1.33.
IMPROVES FINISH
Since the process causes surface flow of metal under pressure, there is a certain amount of burnishing.
REDUCES OPERATIONS REQUIRED
When the pieces are formed over a mandrel the exterior and interior are done simultaneously in a single operation.

A significant and recent illustration of these advantages is given by the automotive industry. In its constant search of weight reduction to lower fuel consumption, the automotive industry increased the use of tubing instead of solid shaft in components for steering column systems. By using swaging, vaill-in-line or push-pull process, it allowed in the same time to reduce manufacturing and assembly cost. See this exemple of one part:

No material waste
Only 2 operations from blank
to finished part
One finished part every 14sec
CPK 1.33
Ecological process
