| The figure
represents the principle of a "D-C" machine. The dies
(2) are moved radially by
a die closing device (1)
and by the backers (3) while
the operation is being performed. The spindle is still motorized
and rotating. This type of machine is used to obtain grooves
or recesses for short step transition angles or for assembly
of large parts on cables or rods without having to remove the
dies between operations.
This die closing machine can have 2, 3 or 4 dies and can
be adapted to swage cold or hot material.
